Robin
Your driving sidekick — be safe, anywhere.
Motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death worldwide, and this especially concerns urban commuters. In an effort to solve this, services like OnStar exist to serve as a safety net for drivers in trouble.
But why pay thousands of dollars a year for technology that is already at your disposal?
Introducing Robin, your driving sidekick, allowing you to be safe wherever you go.
Robin is with you everywhere. Using the Pebble smartwatch, we use its built in accelerometer data to analyze your driving. We mapped statistical data of crashes in the US to craft a robust crash-detection algorithm through Pebble physics. We know when a crash happens first — no traffic data needed.
As soon as the crash is detected via the accelerometer, Robin queries the Open XC vehicle data and sends it to our server. If a crash is confirmed, we use Twilio and SendGrid APIs to send text messages and emails to the authorities and the user's close contact to notify them and offer them details about the vehicle to help them make rapid response decisions.
Alongside a powerful crash detection service, Robin provides easily accessible voice-triggered commands that allow a user to make convenient requests in times of need. Imagine asking Robin for help and having it contact authorities, or asking Robin to find you the nearest hospital. Through api.ai, we're able to perform accurate natural language processing to highlight the keywords in every command — so the user doesn't have to worry about speaking too clear.
